Types of Low-Carb Diets
There are various types of low-carb diets, each with its own set of guidelines and principles. The ketogenic (keto) diet is perhaps the most famous, requiring followers to consume less than 50 grams of carbohydrates per day to achieve ketosis. The Atkins diet, another popular option, has multiple phases starting with a very low-carb intake and gradually reintroducing carbs. The paleo diet, while less strict about carb count, emphasizes whole foods and eliminates grains, legumes, and processed sugars. Other variations include the South Beach diet and the Zone diet, both of which aim for a balanced macronutrient ratio but still reduce carbohydrate intake compared to standard diets.
